Sunset Anniversary Session on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Oh, to be back on this mountain right now.

Most days I’m 1/2 photographer, 1/2 tour guide, and one of my favorite things is seeing the awe and wonder in my couples’ eyes when they reach an overlook and see views like this for the first time. For me, its truly magical, and it never ever gets old. Leslie and Hugo celebrated 5 years of marriage with a trip to the mountains, and a sunset session at one of my favorite places on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the views did not disappoint! They had booked their session months in advance, carefully chose their outfits, and our plan was rock solid – until Coronavirus came into the picture. It was late March, and crowds had been swarming our mountain community looking for a respite from all the chaos. I couldn’t imagine bringing these two to a crowded trail, so I came up with plan B, and waited for the disappointment I was sure would come. But as luck would have it, we arrived to the trailhead to find a half empty parking lot and no one else in sight. We only saw a few people the entire time, and in all my trips up this mountain, I’d never experienced Rough Ridge so quiet! We had the most beautiful weather followed by the dreamiest sunset, and took our time soaking in one of the final days before the Stay at Home Order went into effect. I am SO so thankful for Leslie and Hugo, and their sweet and adorable personalities that made this entire experience such a joy!

For the next while, you can find me reliving this incredible anniversary session and dreaming of more sunsets like this, with the sweetest couples ever. Its only a matter of time.
