Waterfalls & Big Mountain Views - Epic Engagement session in the Linville Gorge, NC

Where do I even begin!?

From my first conversation with Alyssa and Cody, I could tell that we’d become fast friends. We chatted about their wedding plans, and their desire to spend a whole weekend with their favorite people as they become husband and wife – something that was so important for Scott and I when we got married! They booked their dream venue (Brown Mountain Beach Resort), are having their favorite Thai restaurant cater their wedding (YES PLEASE!), and want to make their wedding an entire weekend experience for all of their guests… To top it off, their dream engagement session included TWO of my favorite hikes in western NC – Linville Falls and Hawksbill Mountain- and we got to spend a whole evening hanging out in some of the most beautiful places ever.

Here’s their proposal story, as told by them:

“On July 27, 2019, we drove to Panthertown Valley in Lake Toxaway with our dog Reggie to go on a hike. It had been in the 90s in Asheville and we were planning to hike to Schoolhouse Falls and swim in the swimming hole. But as we drove, it started to drizzle and the temperature dropped. When we got to the trailhead, another couple told us the waterfall hike Cody wanted to take was inaccessible due to a large swarm of hornets. There was another trail, one that led to a separate waterfall he’d never been to. After Alyssa refused to take Cody’s proposed hike-around through the woods to avoid the hornets, we hiked the second trail to Greenland Creek Falls. The hike involved some rain and a whole lot of mud, but it was worth it. At the end, we were completely alone at a gorgeous waterfall – just us and our dog. Cody proposed there and we laughed, took pictures, and played with Reg on the rocks with no one else around. Our swimming plans were nixed, but it was so perfect and private that we lost track of time and had to hike out at dusk, chasing the last rays of daylight.”
